Image result wey dey for picture of doctor with a cough patientOf course, you know very well that everybody coughs, and there's no need to be anxious when it's an occurs sometimes. Allergies and short-term sicknesses such as the common cold, can cause repeated coughing most times. But coughing can be annoying, it's the body’s way of clearing the airways and aids prevent infection. Coughing due to a cold or the flu usually goes away on its own without therapy. Though, if your cough is not getting better and particularly if it brings up blood, interfere with your sleep or affects your work, it may be time to consult your doctor.
Cough symptoms are divided into three types: acute, subacute and chronic.
Causes of Acute Cough
This type of cough frequently start suddenly and go away in one to three weeks. They're usually caused by the common cold or other upper respiratory infections, including the flu, pneumonia and whooping cough. Coughs caused by the common cold usually get better within a week without specific therapy, but symptoms may continue for likely three weeks.
Causes of Subacute Cough
This type of cough lasts three to eight weeks, lingering after respiratory infection or cold is over. The throat or airways may remain swollen and inflamed after an infection, causing you to continue coughing; and this is d condition known as airway hyper-responsiveness.
Causes of Chronic Cough
When a cough persists longer than eight weeks (sometimes four weeks in children), it's said to be chronic. Chronic cough can have many causes. Asthma, postnasal drip syndrome (upper airway cough syndrome), and gastroesophageal reflux disease are the most plausible causes of persistent cough in adults. These disorders, alone or in combination, are responsible for 90 percent of cases of chronic cough.
There are other causes of chronic cough such as pneumonia, angiotensin-changing-enzyme inhibitors(bloodpressure medications), pertussis (also called whooping cough), cardiac failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease caused by smoking, chronic bronchitis from exposure to cigarette smoke etc. There are less common causes of chronic cough such as bronchiectasis, lung cancer, pulmonary embolus(blood clot in the lung), cystic fibrosis, tuberculosis and pneumothorax.
Piece of advice to relieve the Cough
•    If you have had a cough for a short while, you may not require to do anything but wait for it to go away on its own. Measures you can take at home to ease an acute cough include the following: Take a steamy shower to relieve a dry, sore throat. You can breathe in steam making use of a vaporizer.
•    Drink plenty of fluids such as warm liquids with lemon or honey to aid thin mucus and relieve your throat.
•    Try to avoid exposure to dust or any other substances that can activate a cough; if you smoke cigarette, try as much as you can to stop smoking.
•    Try cough drops to relieve a dry, tickling cough (don’t give these to kids younger than 3 years).
When to Call the medical doctor
A cough that persists for longer than three weeks, or is getting worse, requires a trip to your doctor for immediate medical care and to rule out something more serious. Immediately call your doctor if you have any of the following symptoms:
•    A fever of 101.5 degrees Fahrenheit or higher
•    Wheezing or shortness of breath
•    Weakness, anorexia or fatigue
•    Coughing up of thick green or yellow mucous
•    Weight loss
•    Night sweats and discomfort
•    Coughing up of blood
•    Chest pain
What to Expect From the doctor
Determining the cause of a chronic, persistent cough is relevant to effective treatment. Your medical doctor will request a detailed medical history and carry out a physical examination. The doctor may ask questions about the duration of your cough, your symptoms, your medications, whether you smoke and how cold air or exercise affect your breathing and cough.
Your physician May Ask you the following questions About Your Persistent Cough
Do you have a fever?
Do you take blood pressure medicine?
How long have you had your cough?
Did your cough start with a lung infection or other illness?
When do you cough?
Are you breathless even when you are not coughing
Do you smoke?
Do you have heartburn?
Does anything relieve your cough?
Do you have night sweats?
Do you have chest pain?
Have you lost weight?
Have you been in contact with anyone with tuberculosis or have you recently traveled?

Computed tomography scans, chest x-rays, lung function tests and laboratory tests may be carried out.
Medications
Coughing is necessary for clearing mucus and other irritants and may assist prevent infection. For this reason, cough medicines are commonly used only when a cough causes a lot of pain, irritation and disturbs daily activities. Your physician may recommend the following medicines:
•    Antihistamines. If you have a cold or flu or any allergy, antihistamines may work better than nonprescription cough medicines. Chlorpheniramine and brompheniramine reduce the production of mucus and widen airways. Unluckily, these medicines can make you sleepy and may be better to take only at night
•    Decongestants. Phenylephrine and pseudoephedrine are examples of decongestants utilized to aid clear a runny or stuffy nose and relieve postnasal drip. Utilization of these medicines is not advised in anybody with high blood pressure.
•    Expectorants. Some coughs are dry, while others, called productive coughs, bring up mucus (phlegm). For a productive cough, an expectorant such as guaifenesin (trade names include Robitussin and Mucinex) aids thin or loosen mucus and move the mucus without any difficulty. Drink lots of water if you take guaifenesin.
•    Steroid nasal sprays. A steroid nasal spray may aid postnasal drip. Nasacort (triamcinolone acetonide) is an example of over-the-counter steroid nasal sprays.
•    Bronchodilators. Bronchodilators such as Albuterol aid relax the airways and make breathing easier.
•    Analgesics. Pain relievers like Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen can be taken for aches, fever and pains. Be cautious not to take more than the prescribed acetaminophen dosage because too much can cause liver damage and even death. Note that some combination cold and cough medicines contain acetaminophen
•    Antitussives. Recommended cough suppressants may be useful to suppress a dry cough. There is no proof to show that OTC cough suppressants soothe a cough.
It is necessary to talk to your kid’s physician or any health care provider before you give a kid 6 years or younger an OTC cough medicine, despite it is labeled for kids. These medicines may not be beneficial, depending on the case, and can have severe adverse effects.

Image result wey dey for picture of antimicrobial agents in veterinary medicineAntimicrobial agents are precious and are among the most used drugs in veterinary practice. They are utilized for the therapy and prophylaxis of infectious diseases and as feed additives to growth. As pointed out by Van Den Bogaard (1993), antibiotics are among the most safe drugs and this attribute has provoked the liberal and even the use of these substances in man and animals, the argument being that if they do not do any good, they will do no harm either . The use of antimicrobial agents in Veterinary practice has no doubt resulted in a drastic reduction in mortality rate of infectious diseases. However, the indiscriminate use of these precious agents is not without serious adverse effects on the animal, environment and the public. This paper highlights some of the relevant aspects of antimicrobial drugs in Veterinary practice.
ANTIMICROBIAL AGENTS AND THE NORMAL BACTERIAL FLORA OF ANIMALS.
One of the major importance of the normal microbial flora is to keep invaders at bay (Schaechter, 1989). Two principal ways by which the normal flora prevent colonization and multiplication of invading pathogens are: (1). The normal flora is well adapted to the environment of the host and thus competes the invading pathogen for food and space. (2) some members of the normal flora produced antibacterial substances known as bacteriocins which are inimical to the pathogens. Proliferation on endogenous microorganisms like Clostridium difficile and Candida albicans is suppressed by the commensal bacteria of the intestinal tract. Antimicrobial agents are effective against both pathogens and normal bacterial flora of the animals. Irrational dosing of these animals with antimicrobial drugs especially broad spectrum oral antibiotics may result in:- (i) Total elimination of the typical bacterial flora of the intestinal tract  (ii) Emergence of resistance bacteria among the endogenous flora. Destruction of the normal flora with antibiotics increases the changes of exogenous bacteria to establish and multiply within the host and cause disease. Prolonged antibiotics therapy in animals may give rise to superinfection with resistant endogenous microorganisms such as Candida albicans (in dogs) and Clostridium difficile (in rabbits and guinea pigs). One of the most outstanding issues is associated with indiscriminate use of antibiotic resistant bacteria among the indigenous flora particularly those of the digestive system (Espinasse, 1993). Bacteria develop resistance to antibiotics through any of the following means:- (i) Productions of enzymes that destroy the active drug e.g. Penicillinase produced by Staphylococci. (ii) Alteration in permeability of bacteria to the drug eg. Resistance to polymyxins, (iii) Alteration of structural target for the drug e.g. resistance to sulphonamide. (iv) Alteration of bacterial enzymes which are less sensitive to the active drug e.g. resistance to sulphonamide genetic resistance (Chromosomal) can be conveyed from the resistant bacteria to sensitive ones (Frank, 1916; Espinasse, 1993). Greenwood (1989) observed that resistance to antimicrobial drugs develops in rough relation to the extent of use drug use. Hence lavish use of antimicrobial agents in animal may favour the emergence of resistance to different bacteria species or even genera in the same ecological niche. These resistant strains may also spread to other animals. The clinical implications of such a development are therapeutic failure and high cost of alternative treatments.

ANTIMICROBIAL DRUGS AND THE ENVIRONMENT
Large quantities of animal excretions especially faeces can be found in the environment. Millions of bacteria organisms are discharged into the environment through animal faeces. There are presence of resistant genes to pathogenic bacteria. Such pathogens may eventually establish in human or animal populations.
ANTIMICROBIAL AGENTS AND PUBLIC HEALTH.
Food animals constitute main source of animal proteins for man. Improper use of antimicrobial agents in animal may have hazardous effects on human health. Two main public health risks associated with antibiotic use in animals are:
(i)Risk related to the effect of antibiotic residues in animal products consumed by man.
(ii) Risk associated with antibiotic resistant bacteria in animals which contaminate man. Antibiotic residues in animal products such as meat and milk may produce direct toxic or hypersensitive reactions on the consumer for examples neurotoxicity associated with streptomycin; hepatotoxicity due to chloramphenicol residues; and haemolytic anaemia, a hupersensitivity reaction to sulphonamide residues. Antibiotic residues in animal products when ingested may favour the multiplication of microorganisms resistant to the particular antibiotic residues. The proliferation of such microorganisms (even non-pathogenic bacteria), particularly those with conveyable antibiotic resistant factor (R-Factor) constitutes a health problem. Transfer of such resistance to pathogenic bacteria will result in non-response to therapy when clinical infection sets in. Irrational use of antimicrobial drugs in food animals can select pathogenic bacteria such as salmonella in these animals which will contaminate the consumer. Resistant non-pathogenic strains or R-factor containing bacteria especially E. Coli when ingested through contaminated food may transfer the antibiotic resistance to pathogenic bacteria (e.g. Shigella) that may be present in the consumer digestive tract.
CONCLUSION
Antimicrobial agents are indispensable tools in veterinary practice. However, to preserve and safeguard the continuous efficacy of veterinary antimicrobial therapy now and in the future, and to protect human and environmental contamination with resistant bacterial strains, there is need for responsible use of antimicrobial drugs in veterinary practice. A WHO expert committee (WHO, 1961) had pointed out that estimation of bacterial sensitivity or resistance to antibiotics is an important requirement for the rational utilization of antibiotics and for preserving their efficacy. Since antimicrobial therapy is more effective if started early in disease, antibiotic treatment can be initiated when a bacterial infection is suspected pending results of sensitivity test. However, the choice of the antibiotic should be based up to date information on drug susceptibilities in previous cases in the farm and the neighbourhood. Rational use of antibiotics also entails respecting the dose route, frequency and duration of administration of the drug as indicated by the manufacturer.

Image result wey dey for picture of veterinary medicineThe main title of this article is simple for easy understanding to any person at the level we are discussing. However the question might then be asked how is the link going to be made. A particular lecturer tried to answer the question thus: his role well defined economy builder he knows  but his fate not quite clear. Through bright hopes, he is respected by patriots but to the ignorant his time wastes. He pointed out that the veterinarians role is well defined and the future he thinks is bright but the ultimate question still remain, how do we get to this level of minimum comfort as a veterinary practitioner? This now brings me to my own business of the day: opportunities for private vets in veterinary profession in Nigeria.
The Chronicles: The students know that there is guarantee future for veterinarians in various areas which veterinary knowledge could be used namely:-In the Ministry, Research Institutes/Universities, Marketing as in being employed by drug, feed or hatchery companies to market their goods/products. But they are praying to know about the opportunities available to the independent (private)  individual veterinarian in Nigeria. May be their quest is informed by the saying, that dependability is a virtue, but unlike most virtues, it does not parade itself.  Thus it is fate that will determine whether or not you will be in private practice, not only being there but achieving the desired goal. Today in Nigeria, mention should be made of some of the first and foremost private practitioners. The already existing private veterinary practioners are divided into 3 groups namely:-
(1)THE ADVENTURERS: These people are so called because they on their own opted for private practice. They are made up of some of the very first people that started private practice in Nigeria. These people mainly concentrated on pet clinic e.g. Dr. Adegbite of Island Vet Clinic, Zee Vet Clinic, Airport Vet Clinic, Yam Vet Clinic and surgery: all located in Lagos.
(2) THE VISSIONERIES: These people are so classified because of their ability in looking ahead of the time. Most of them I admit are astute business men: no wonder why they succeeded in their bid. Again almost all of them at one time or the other had a stint with either the public or private service as workers. Some of them are Dr. Agbato-the president Animal Care Service Konsult Nig. Ltd. Dr Funso of Novat Veterinary Services Kano. Dr. Adebiyi of Jofa Veterinary Service Ltd. Akura. Dr. Chidi Ogboso of Harmony Projects Ltd. Lagos, Also Dr. Uwaeme of Bomag Veterinary Service Aba.
(3) MODERN DAY PRACTITIONERS: These group of people were driven into private practice by various reasons, paramount on the list is unemployment. In cases where the employment is available, the salary is very meager. Others were fed up with stories from civil service and big farms; thus they decided to take the bull by the horn. They took their destiny in their hand. They were afraid, yet courageous. Courage is not lack of fear, it is standing your ground in spite of the circumstance. In this category we start discussing people like Dr. Onyenso of Animal Kingdom Veterinary Clinic Akure. He was later appointed a commissioner in charge of Ministry of Agriculture in the old Ondo State. Looking at the structure and distribution of this private enterprise at this level one can hypothetically state that, private practice is concentrated in the western part of the country. Perhaps student of Biostatistics will even prove that the null hypothesis is correct. Another school of thought said that most people that go into private practice are graduates of University of Ibadan; who according to them has veterinary economics added into their programmes; no person has been able to prove this. However when the economic realities dawned on newly graduate veterinary surgeons the consequences of unemployment and underemployment forced many veterinarians to go into private practice even in the Eastern part of the country. Some of the people caught in this web are Dr. N. G. Ofor of Gofons Veterinary Services Owerri. Dr. Udechukwu of Green Cross Veterinary Services Ichi Nnewi. Dr. Nwabunike of CENA Vet. Servics Awka, Dr. Festus Ajibo fo First Tropical Veterinary Services Enugu, Dr. Nweze of Onyinyechukwu Agvet Nsukka and COSIN VET Services Ltd. Enugu. Etc. By 1994, the economic difficulty has become so acute, there was total embargo on employment at least at the ministry level. This brought about an upsurge in private practice, so, many veterinarians were just satisfied staying at their homes and maintaining their clients without necessarily having office. This is the journey so far. Whether all private practitioners are doing so according to the dictate of the Hippocratic oath which they swore; simply to save the life of animals will still be seen. It is vital for me to do this introduction because there is a saying that an inquirer must know about the past to help him keep abreast of the present and enable him project into the future.
The Opportunities Proper
Yes a qualified veterinarian has too many opportunities to practice on his own.
By this I mean you must be qualified in the real meaning of it. You should seek to study well by trying to attend at least 95% of all your lectures and practicals, then be responsible and disciplined to take your exams as students not as bus conductors. To cram your notes and pour it out during exam will be of little help, strive to know and love the course. At the end, every other thing will be added unto you. There is no need to combine business with your studies. Take your field trainings seriously and meticulously. You will have time more than enough to do business. The option is yours.
1. Opening a private veterinary Clinic: The first option in private practice most times is opening a private veterinary clinic. In fact, the first group of practitioners went into this strictly. Their duty is to mainly treat and take care of sick animals, give them routine inoculation in the clinic and run occasional ambulatory or home services. Some of them are retained by most Security Companies. At present most veterinarians do not solely depend on this. In addition, they have pet shop where clients could buy dog feed, dog collars, nail trimmers, belts and other accessories. They also try their hands on Dog breeding and this is very important. Veterinarians like Dr. Dan Okeke of Zigma Vet Enugu, Dr. Awotunde of Raph Vet P.H are solely into this. Also Dr. Jones Okoye of Techno-Agro project Ltd, Jos combines this with vaccines importation.
2. IMPORTATION: Talking of importation, most veterinarians in private practice especially the big Vets are into importation. What they import range from vaccines through veterinary drugs to livestock feed raw materials such as fishmeal, methionine, lysine etc. Examples are Animal Care Veterinary Services Konsult (Nig.) Ltd; Harmony Project Ltd and recently Blue Bat Company Ltd. The Managing director of the later mentioned is one of those who went into private practice due to unemployment. He import solely vaccines; Today he is a moving force in vaccine importation. The company’s Corporate headquarters is in Kaduna, Nigeria. When you talk of importation, the issue of marketing is involved. Many of them who import are now purely business men, but one good thing is that they usually reach out to their colleagues who are in veterinary practice.
3. FREE LANCING: Talking of practice, there is another group of practitioners called free lancers. They become self employed and hired to work for different companies on particular veterinary assignments. These people practice from their houses; thus when the big importers import, they reach out to these people to enable them get their products circulated to the appropriate quarters. Those who freelance are mostly veterinary graduates from the university or National Youth Service. They will gradually acquire an office and develop it into a full vet clinic or veterinary services.
4. VETERINARY SERVICES: Another popular opportunity is the establishment of veterinary service. This is very popular in that it includes comprehensively the actual practice of merchandizing. Now in this part of the country, opening of purely pet clinic might not give you minimum comfort in terms of basic necessities of life. When you try to increase the charge of your service, the clients might run away or go to government established veterinary clinics. Thus, to survive, you maintain an acceptable charge within the locality, then augment your income with other things like marketing of vet drugs (powders), day old chicks, livestock feeds, and raw materials. At times you can market poultry products like eggs or you can even open a cold room.
5. COLD ROOM: Cold rooms business is where veterinary doctors in private practice are still lagging. Though many people will see it as being capital intensive due to incessant or interrupted power supply in some parts of the country yet one can try his hand in this area. Cold room business is better established in areas where the middle class income, educated groups of people are living. Most of them will like to buy their meat, fresh eggs, pasteurized milk, frozen and fresh fish from veterinarians in this kind of business. As the veterinarians are doing this to ensure steady supplies, they might go into production.
6. PRODUCTION: Livestock production perhaps, still stands out as the best form of private practice for a veterinarian in a developing country like Nigeria. Though capital intensive but nevertheless very rewarding. When you are into livestock production, you are carrying along with you a generation. Under very good management, the establishment will outlive you and could be a very big source of relief to your family when the unexpected but unavoidable happens. Thus I encourage you and myself, let us rise and embrace livestock production for by so doing, we would have lived up to our bid of becoming – ECONOMY BUILDER; WHO LOOK FORWARD TO A BRIGHT FUTURE, WHO MUST BE RESPECTED BY PATRIOTS, WHO HAS NOT WASTED HIS TIME WHOSE PRICE IS ULTIMATELY FORTUNE. It is only then that we can say”AU_RAVOIR” for truly golden age of veterinary medicine is here with us. The only thing we can now see is FORTUNE.
ADVICE: THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT- Yes very good; the price of hard work, forthrightness, diligence, patience and vision. It then means that for us to succeed in practice, we should endeavour to be DISCIPLINED, HARDWORKING, WISE, HONEST, HUMBLE AND ENTHUSIASTIC. Humility is the mother of all virtues and is a gift from God. When you are honest, humble and hardworking, you can win the heart of most stubborn clients. Again, you should learn how to live at each time according to your income, try to save money. Depending on the kind of  business, it is possible to make a million naira a day and squander two million naira the same day. Try to build your character in this profession from the University. If you are reckless or born to cheat, it will be difficult for you to succeed all the time.

Many patients who undergo treatment can be cured due to new medical advancements.
Recently, treating hepatitis C was a clearly exposed project. And the expectation of curing the potentially life-threatening virus, or infection which causes liver inflammation or disorder of the organ, was a dark horse. As a result, many patients opted to forgo treatment.
According to a professor of medicine at the great Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and medical administrator at the Johns Hopkins Infectious Disease Center for Viral Hepatitis, Dr Mark Sulkowski who got involved in the hepatitis C therapy in the mid-1990s, he said that at that time, they were giving injections of interferon, which is one of the body’s natural viral fighters; they gave these injections particularly on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for a period of likely 48 weeks, or almost a year. He said also that these treatments were universally connected to side effects, including flu-like symptoms, weight loss, depression and other abnormalities of bloodwork and the cure rate which was within 6 and 15 percent,so a very ineffective treatment.
Today, thanks to relevant medical breakthroughs which comprise a new generation of medications approved within the last couple years that are highly successful and effectual in addressing the most common strains of hepatitis C, the vast majority of patients who go through treatment can be cured.  Sulkowski said that they did not involve the older medication interferon; And that they are oral medications, usually administered for a period of 12 weeks, that result in a cure of chronic hepatitis C in at least 95 percent of people treated. Experts said that these drugs were also much better tolerated with common side effects such as nausea, fatigue and headache.
In a few instances, health insurance coverage has lagged for new hepatitis C drugs, including the brand names Sovaldi and Harvoni. Not long ago, a research found that almost half, about 46 percent of Medicaid patients in Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland and Pennsylvania were denied treatment with the pricey new antiviral drugs, that is able to run $90,000 for a 12-week therapy regimen. World Health Organization research published in PLOS One in May similarly found that the drugs are costly to people in many countries; Solvaldi costs $101,000 in Poland and $64,600 in the U.S. for a 12-week regimen.
Though, private insurers and medicare tended to cover the vast majority of patients, making sure that the new medicines are accessible for many patients. Even so, many aren’t undergoing treatment for another reason: According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, majority of the approximated 3.2 million people surviving with chronic hepatitis C don’t feel ill or know they are infected.
Dr. Ira Jacobson, chairman of medicine department at Mount Sinai Beth Israel located in New York City said that though commonly asymptomatic, it’s doing harm just the same; the virus is actually making billion duplicates of itself daily, resulting in inflammation of the liver. He also said that Hepatitis C silently causes gradual scar tissue in the liver which culminates in cirrhosis. Gradual liver damage can result in liver cancer or liver failure.
Though the virus wasn't discovered until 1989, public health data propose it was being transmitted decades before that time. Baby Boomers are at higher risk for hepatitis C than the general population, with almost 1 in 20 infected by the virus, Sulkowski notes. The CDC recommends all Americans born within 1945 and 1965 go through a simple, one-time blood test for hepatitis C. He noted that if that test is positive, but absolutely that is not information anybody would want to hear – that you have hepatitis C, it does allow that person to make health care choices that can enhance their health and perhaps even save their lives.

Patients with more progressive liver disorder and cirrhosis or liver scarring may need to go through a liver transplant. But given long delays for organs, some die before they’re matched with a donor organ. Jacobson said that there have been many transplant programs that give hepatitis C-positive livers to hepatitis C-positive recipients; the principle being that it would be an embarrassment to deprive someone with hepatitis C of the opportunity for transplant in the era of organ shortages when you may not be changing their view, since they already have the infection.
Summarily, research finds those with hepatitis C that get hepatitis-C positive livers fare as well as those who get livers that are negative for the virus. Utilizing hepatitis C-positive livers stimulates a pool of organs that increases the chances a patient gets the liver he or she requires, says Dr. Zobair Younossi, chairman of the department of medicine and vice president of research for Inova Health System which is based in Falls Church located in Virginia. In deed, he adds, these organs are still checked for other issues, like fat and scarring, which could compromise the organ’s quality.
Success has escalated the percentage of hepatitis C-specific organs utilized for transplant to treat patients with hepatitis C, from 3 percent in 1995 to 9 percent in 2013. Younossi said that these organs were utilized for patients who didn’t have a lot time to wait; that for example, liver cancer patients with hepatitis C tended to receive more hepatitis C-specific organs. As with those patients treated with drugs alone, he says the vast majority, at least 95 percent of those with hepatitis C who get a liver transplant and are treated with medication are cured. He also declared that this modern day is a golden age of hepatitis treatment.
According to Experts, that makes it relevant, that those at risk for hepatitis C, including Baby Boomers, and anybody who got a blood transfusion before July 1992, when the blood supply was not screened for hepatitis C, look for  medical attention to ascertain if they may have the virus. Furthermore, physicians say it's essential not to wait to discuss treatment options. A resurgence of injection narcotic utilization has also result in infections in young adults under the age of 30 in the U.S., Sulkowski says. Although health providers are hasty to point out that any stigma related to hepatitis C is next to the point, given that the virus can be spread in diverse ways and that eventually addressing the issue can enhance a person’s outcome and condition of life.

Jacobson said that the crucial point today is that they think of just about every patient with hepatitis C as a likely treatment candidate, who they strongly want to treat in the near future, so that they can cure them.

VitusVet extends to California to create better communication and health end results for pets and veterinarians
VitusVet, a mobile app solutions provider for veterinary clinics, is happy to publicize the company’s expansion to California. The aim of the company is to enhance the health and well-being of pets through advanced technology.
52.9% of Californian households possess a pet and, as the total number continues to increase, the requirement for a platform to track, allocate, and preserve animal health records will become more obvious.
VitusVet’s expansion will aid enhance the conversation amid pet owners and veterinary doctors in California regarding the relevance of healthcare and compliance. To help with the expansion, the company has come to be an Associate Partner with the South California Veterinary Medical Association (SCVMA), the nation’s biggest local veterinary medical association. The SCVMA looks for businesses or organizations that provide products or services which are new and different and can make a difference in veterinary applications and the lives of pets. The SCVMA Board of Trustees felt that VitusVet truly satisfied those criteria as it affects veterinary practices and pet possessors. The SCVMA Executive Director, Peter Weinstein, DVM,MBA said that they eagerly anticipate seeing what difference this can make for their local veterinary community. SCVMA represents over 700 hospitals and provides their 1200 members information about companies, such as VitusVet, to assist enhance the science and art of veterinary medicine.
Specialists, Emergency veterinary doctors and general practitioners throughout the state will be able to provide their clients a record sharing app that they can utilize for their dear pets. “As an ER veterinarian, I have seen so many cases where pet parents are so scared to remember their pet’s allergies or relevant medical details. If their regular veterinary doctor is closed, this is able to cost them hundreds of dollars in waste and redundant testing. Even worse, not having easy access to this information can result in the deteriorating of their condition or even death.”, said Mark Olcott, DVM, MBA, CEO/ Co-Founder of VitusVet. Mark also said that a pet owner can have access to all their pet’s life-saving medical records in a terrible condition and share the records with whoever requires it and whenever they need it with the help o VitusVet app.
According to Kalpesh Raval, MBA, CTO/Co-Founder of VitusVet, California is known for its innovative technology, although somehow several veterinary clinics are still using obsolete technology such as fax machines, that slow down an office’s workflow. The VitusVet platform will work with a veterinary practice’s prevailing software system and keeps a pet’s complete medical record online, permitting it to be accessible to a user when required. Veterinary practices in 15 different states including Washington D.C. have chosen to adopt the VitusVet program into their veterinary clinic to create better health end results for their patients.
